Teaching

Teaching is central to my goals as a philosopher. Part of doing philosophy is engaging the world around me in the rigor and depth of philosophical thought. I seek to connect all my students to the value of this practice, and enable them to understand how philosophical thought can enrich their lives – no matter their particular interests or professional goals.

I have shared several sample syllabi for various classes, as well as a few sample classroom activities. In my syllabi, I strive to represent a diversity of philosophical topics and perspectives. Since students always vary, this practice increases the chances that something we do in class will resonate with each student, and increases the chances my students will recognize the importance of philosophy in their lives. My approach to classroom activities is similar. I vary the kinds of activities I use in order to support a variety of learning styles.
