About my academic history
Starting in fall 2024, I will be a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Loyola University – Chicago. I was previously an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Wofford College. I completed my PhD in 2019 at Boston University under Dr. Alisa Bokulich.
I graduated from Lawrence University (Appleton, WI) in 2012 with a degree in Biology (concentration: Neuroscience) and Philosophy, and a minor in Psychology. During my time at Lawrence, I worked in the neuropharmacology and behavior lab of Dr. Bruce Hetzler investigating the effects of alcohol and methylphenidate hydrochloride (Ritalin) on flash-evoked potentials recorded from the visual cortex and superior colliculus of chronically implanted rats.
About my interests
My research involves a combination of philosophy of biology, philosophy of the historical sciences, and the philosophy of measurement, as well as feminist philosophy of science. As my research has matured a deeper driving conceptual interest in the concept of neutrality has emerged. I want to understand why neutrality is important to us across so many different domains (science, law, fashion, food, etc.), and its connections we take ourselves to know and to social power. For more on what I’m up to, check out my research page.
In my spare time I can be found in the yoga studio, hiking a mountain, or snuggling with my cat.
